A denouement is an unfolding of an event or series of events. Another term for denouement is "resolution." The exposition occurs at the beginning of the novel, so you'll easily be able to locate it. The novel opens by introducing the protagonist's father, George, and the story is set in Colorado. Also, the denouement occurs at the end of the novel, so likewise, you should be able to locate it easily, as well. Look at it in terms of the beginning and the end. In the beginning, you are introduced to the characters, setting, background, etc., and in the end, the resolution occurs. Thomas, the protagonist, realizes, after learning the "white man's ways," that he must return to his roots and regain his identity. Refer to eNotes on this novel for further information.
