Zeebrugge raid
Zeebrugge raid ( 23 April 1918 )A raid on a German U-boat base in Belgium during World War I. During the night of 22 – 23 April 1918 a force led by Admiral Keyes attacked the base sinking three blockships in the channel and almost closing it. More effective but less dramatic was the line of deep mines that he laid across the Straits of Dover.
