Rabin, Yitzhak ( 1922 – 95 )
Israeli general and statesman. Rabin was chief of staff of the Israeli army 1964 – 68 , commanding the Israeli Defence Forces in the Six-Day War of June 1967 against Israel's Arab neighbours. As leader of the Labour Party, he was Prime Minister from 1974 until 1977 . He regained leadership of the party and the premiership in 1992 , and in the following year signed a peace accord with Yasser Arafat of the Palestine Liberation Organization .
