Offa
Offa (died 796 )King of Mercia ( 757 – 96 ). After seizing power in Mercia in 757 , he expanded his territory to become overlord of most of England south of the Humber. Offa is chiefly remembered for constructing the frontier earthworks called Offa's Dyke .
