Langtry, Lillie
Langtry, Lillie (born Emilie Charlotte le Breton ) ( 1853 – 1929 )British actress. Born in Jersey and the daughter of the dean of the island, she was noted for her beauty and became known as ‘the Jersey Lily’ from the title of a portrait of her painted by Sir John Millais . She made her stage début in 1881 and was one of the first actresses from an aristocratic background. She became the mistress of the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII .
