Edgar

Edgar ( 947 – 75 )
King of England ( 959 – 75 ). He became king of Northumbria and Mercia in 957 when these regions renounced their allegiance to his elder brother Edwy , succeeding to the throne of England on Edwy's death. Edgar worked closely with St Dunstan during his reign and was renowned for his support of organized religion.
