Cabral, Amilcar
Cabral, Amilcar ( 1924 – 73 )Guinean revolutionary. He founded a clandestine liberation organization against Portuguese rule. From 1963 – 1973 he led a successful guerrilla campaign which had gained control of much of the interior before he was assassinated, supposedly by a Portuguese agent. In the following year Portuguese Guinea became independent as Guinea-Bissau .
