Abydos
AbydosA town of ancient Mysia in Asia Minor, situated on a hill overlooking the Dardanelles, north‐east of the modern Turkish city of Çanakkale. Abydos was the scene of the story of Hero and Leander and the place where the Persian King Xerxes constructed his bridge of boats over the Hellespont in 480 BC .
A town in ancient Egypt and burial place of the first pharaohs, situated on the left bank of the Nile near modern El Balyana.
