Aboukir Bay

Aboukir Bay (or Abukir, Abu Qir)
A bay on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, lying between Alexandria and the Rosetta mouth of the Nile. Nelson defeated the French fleet under Brueys at the Battle of the Nile which was fought in the bay on 1–2 August 1798 . Sir Ralph Abercromby's expedition landed near the village of Aboukir and defeated the French in 1801 .
