Students Speak Out On Overall Experience

“There are aspects of Wellesley that aren't the best, but the education we receive really balances a lot of it out. The classes, professors, and resources are great. Once you find your niche, (I recommend affiliating yourself with the radio station, any of the three student co-ops, the art department, or Lake House), it's easier to limit your interaction with the unimaginative, unpleasant girls. Wellesley is closer to a big city than many small liberal arts schools, so while we may complain about the bus, at least we have the option of going to Boston whenever we want. I'm not happy at Wellesley 100 percent of the time, but most college students I know aren't completely enamored of their schools. I think Wellesley comes as close as I could hope to what I wanted in a school—smart students, accessible professors, good classes, a city nearby, a small school, and a beautiful campus.”

Most people complain the whole time while they're at Wellesley, myself included, basically because the other students are so irritating, but I guess overall, the school has a lot of good things. I once heard an alum say, ‘It's just like giving birth: after it's done, you forget the pain!’ My parents forced me to go to Wellesley (or ‘Hellesley’ as I call it—others call it ‘Swellesley’) because my grandmother and sister went there, but I didn't really like any of the other schools I saw anyway, so I guess it's okay. The faculty and staff really try to do everything they can for you to make you happy and comfortable, and I really appreciate that. And if you don't like it, just do what I did and go abroad for all of your junior year! That way, you only have three years of Hellesley.”
