I was wondering where in the book, Watership Down, did Bigwig gain General Woundworts trust? And How?

I read the book I just do not have time to even re-read a chapter or two to find my answer, so please if anyone can help. Thank You!

    Bigwig meets Woundwort for the first time in Chapter 34.  He claims to Woundwort that he wanted to join Efrafa.
