Although Scott’s reputation rests on his novels, his few short stories are well respected, if often overlooked. Wandering Willie’s Tale appears in the novel Redgauntlet: A Tale of the Eighteenth Century, a work of historical fiction that relates the stories of the Redgauntlet family.
