It took a lot of courage for Bill Bryson to stop everything he was doing, drop his cares/responsibilities, and take a walk in the woods.  It's right up there with backpacking across Europe... but at middle age!

If you had the opportunity to do something as arduous as walking the Appalachian Trail, what would you do?  Me, I'd like to go to the Peruvian jungle and learn more about the native culture.

I'd like to work on an archaeological dig in Egypt. I've always been fascinated by the Egyptians. I'd also like to take part in a "living museum" type of thing where you live like the people in the Iron Age or some such.

Do I really have to be limited?   I would love to walk the Trail myself - living in CT, I have done some of it already, but I'd like the pride of being a thru-hiker.  I also want to explore the rain forests, bike ride across the United States, and go on safari... to name a few things!!

I would love to explore some of the rainforests or to do an African safari.  I've never been overseas and would love to do so once my two boys are a little older.  The pull of a safari is irresistable for me.  That would be the ultimate adventure for me.  I've already had a really strenuous adventure in the Southwest, 2 years ago, when I hiked Canyon de Chelle, which is an entire day's hike and a difficult hike, as well.  That is my crowning glory LOL!
