Thoreau appeals to modern generations with an invitation to self-understanding through nature.
It seems that modern day can tear the connection between the individual and nature; according to Thoreau one must understand nature and be a part of it; in order to come to a higher self epiphany, to indulge in the simplicity of life and to learn to be self-reliant.
In his notion of self-understanding, loneliness can be a great part of life and the objects that to many are indispensable are not really needed, but exist as commodities.
In his vivid language and philosophical ideals, the author encourages to live life to its fullest.
