    In the story, A Voice From the Border," Margaret is a skinny, intelligent, fifteen-year-old and is a major protagonist and narrator. She records her impressions about the American Civil War's impact on her family, their slaves, and their neighbors. With just this information alone I would give her these three character traits: 1. determined;she has a fixed intention on writing about her impressions about the impact of the war, 2. intrepid; the firm and unshaken courage she has to write something controversial and at such a young age is astonishing, 3. sacrificial; Margaret has a purpose for writing down her impressions on the war for her family, slaves, and neighbor's, she is doing this and surely she could get hurt possibly killed by her writings.
