Waiting for Guffman (1996) Waiting for Guffman

Waiting for Guffman ★★ 1996 (R) The eccentric citizens of Blaine, Missouri, plan an original musical ("Red, White, and Blaine") to celebrate the town's 150th anniversary with the aid of former New Yorker and semi-hysteric Corky St. Claire (Guest) as their director. Everyone's very game—and almost completely talentless. The Guffman of the title is the Broadway producer Corky knows and whom he's invited to see their disaster-in-the-making. A little too deliberately quirky for its own good. 84m/C VHS, DVD, Wide. Bob Odenkirk, Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Lewis Arquette, Matt Keeslar, Paul Dooley, Paul Benedict, Bob Balaban, Larry Miller, Brian Doyle-Murray; Director: Christopher Guest; Writer: Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy; Writer: Roberto Schaefer; Cameo: Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest.
