V.I. Warshawski (1991) V.I. Warshawski

V.I. Warshawski ★★ 1991 (R) The filmmakers seem to think they can slum with the oldest cliches in detective shows just as long as the tough gumshoe is a woman. They're wrong. Turner is terrific as the leggy shamus of the title (from a popular series of books by Sara Paretsky), but the plot is nothing special, featuring stock characters in the killing of a pro athlete and a real-estate deal. 89m/C VHS. Stephen (Steve) Root, Kathleen Turner, Jay O. Sanders, Angela Goethals, Charles Durning; Director: Jeff Kanew; Writer: Nick Thiel, David Aaron Cohen; Cameo: Randy Edelman.
