Strictly Sinatra (2001) Strictly Sinatra

Strictly Sinatra ★★½ Cocozza's Way 2001 (R) Sinatra cover song act Toni Cocozza (Hart) plys his trade in the local pubs of Glasgow, dreaming about making it as big as Old Blue Eyes himself. The Scottish-Italian crooner's tiny faction of fans under 65 includes some local mobsters. When one claims he met Sinatra himself in Vegas, Toni, who's only truly comfortable on-stage, finds himself intrigued and drawn in to their gang, who shower him with the attention and respect he craves. Underworld mayhem complicates a potentially interesting comedy/thriller that doesn't fully live up to either. Technically adroit, with top-notch songs and arrangements and a stunning performance by Hart. 97m/C VHS, DVD. GB Ian Hart, Kelly Macdonald, Brian Cox, Alun Armstrong, Tommy Flanagan, Iain Cuthbertson, Jimmy Chisholm, Jimmy Yuill; Cameos: Richard E. Grant; Director: Peter Capaldi; Writer: Peter Capaldi; Writer: Stephen Blackman; Cameo: Stanislas Syrewicz.
