A Streetcar Named Desire (1984) A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire ★★★ 1984 Excellent TV adaptation of the Tennessee Williams drama about fading southern belle Blanche du Bois (Ann-Margret in a terrific performance). D'Angelo is her plain sister Stella who lives with brutish husband Stanley (Williams) in the seamy French Quarter of New Orleans. Can't surpass the original but this version does have the advantage of not having to soft-pedal the drama for the '50s censors. 94m/C VHS. Ann-Margret, Beverly D'Angelo, Treat Williams, Randy Quaid, Rafael Campos, Erica Yohn; Director: John Erman; Writer: Bill Butler; Cameo: Marvin Hamlisch. TV
