Shrek 2 ★★★ 2004 (PG) Sequel picks up with Shrek (Myers) and Princess Fiona (Diaz) returning from their honeymoon. They are invited to visit Fiona's parents in the high-falutin' Kingdom of Far, Far Away and Shrek must deal with something more dangerous than dragons or diminutive evil kings—his in-laws, King Harold (Cleese) and Queen Lillian (Andrews), who don't much care to have an ogre in the family (let alone as a daughter). In fact, there's a plot to eliminate Shrek for Fiona's old beau Prince Charming (Everett). The King hires feline assassin Puss-in-Boots (Banderas, uproariously capitalizing on his Spanish heartthrob/Zorro image). Donkey's (Murphy) along as well. The film tries a little too hard in spots, but ya still gotta love the big guy. 92m/C DVD. US
