Out to Sea (1997) Out to Sea

Out to Sea ★★½ 1997 (PG-13) Charlie (Matthau) persuades brother-inlaw Herb (Lemmon) to become a dance instructor aboard a cruise ship so they can meet women and con them out of money. Charlie sets his sights on feisty socialite Liz (Cannon), while Herb romances Vivian (DeHaven), who's tagging along on her daughter's honeymoon. Both of these "salty old dogs" have to avoid the wrath of militaristic cruise director Gil (Spiner). The duo still has great comic timing, as they continue to defy the odds that this is the one that's gonna flop. Great supporting cast, which includes O'Connor in a couple of nifty dance scenes, seems to be having a great time. 109m/C VHS. Joe (Johnny) Viterelli, Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon, Dyan Cannon, Gloria De Haven, Brent Spiner, Elaine Stritch, Hal Linden, Donald O'Connor, Edward Mulhare, Rue McClanahan; Director: Martha Coolidge; Writer: Robert Nelson Jacobs, Danny Jacobson; Writer: Lajos Koltai; Cameo: David Newman.
