Nobody's Fool (1994) Nobody's Fool

Nobody's Fool ★★★½ 1994 (R) Newman shines as 60-year-old Donald "Sully" Sullivan, a construction worker who, in spite of himself, begins mending his many broken relationships over the course of the holiday season. Seemingly plotless scenario is sprinkled with enough humor, hope, and understated inspiration to become a delightfully modest celebration of a perfectly ordinary man. Character-driven story is blessed with commendable performances by supporting players—obviously inspired by Newman's brilliant portrayal. Based on the novel by Richard Russo. 110m/C VHS. Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy, Bruce Willis, Melanie Griffith, Dylan Walsh, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Gene Saks, Josef Sommer, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Philip Bosco, Margo Martindale, Jay Patterson; Director: Robert Benton; Writer: Robert Benton; Writer: John Bailey; Cameo: Howard Shore. Berlin Intl. Film Fest. '94: Actor (Newman); N.Y. Film Critics '94: Actor (Newman); Natl. Soc. Film Critics '94: Actor (Newman).
