Monte Walsh (2003) Monte Walsh

Monte Walsh ★★½ 2003 Tried-and-true horse opera adapted from the novel by Jack Schaefer and a remake of the 1970 film. Aging cowpoke Monte Walsh (Selleck) realizes that life in 1892 Wyoming's Antelope Junction is changing. An eastern company is taking over the western free-range society and fewer cowboys are making a living. Monte has his loyal love Martine (Rossellini) to sustain him, but pal Chet (Carradine) needs a way to support his family and hot-headed Shorty (Eads) has turned to crime. Selleck has become a comfortable old hand at these roles; the pleasures may be undemanding but they're still present. 120m/C DVD. Tom Selleck, Isabella Rossellini, Keith Carradine, George Eads, William Devane, Barry Corbin, James Gammon, William Sanderson, Wallace Shawn, Joanna Miles; Director: Simon Wincer; Writer: Robert B. Parker, Michael Brandman, David Zelag Goodman, Lukas Heller; Writer: David Eggby; Cameo: Eric Colvin. CABLE
