Minority Report (2002) Minority Report

Minority Report ★★★½ 2002 (PG-13) In 2054 Washington, D.C., a law enforcement agency employs seers called Pre-Cogs to anticipate homicides. Cruise plays John Anderton, chief of the Pre-Crime unit, created to go after potential perps before they can commit the crime. When one of the Pre-Cogs names Anderton as a suspect, however, he's forced to go on the run. Realistic mix of 19th century tradition (classic architecture) and cool, new innovations (retinal scanning robotic spiders), blend into a detailed and believable future world. Engaging story and interesting characters help pic race along, figuratively and literally, with visual sophistication and technical wizardry that Spielberg does so well. Based on a 1956 short story by Philip K. Dick. 145m/C VHS, DVD. US Tom Cruise, Samantha Morton, Colin Farrell, Max von Sydow, Neal McDonough, Lois Smith, Peter Stormare, Tim Blake Nelson, Steve Harris, Kathryn Morris, Mike Binder, Daniel London, Spencer (Treat) Clark, Jessica Capshaw, Patrick Kilpatrick, Jessica Harper, Ashley Crow, Arye Gross; Director: Steven Spielberg; Writer: Scott Frank, Jon Cohen; Writer: Janusz Kaminski; Cameo: John Williams.
