Joan of Arc ★★½ 1999 Earnest biopic of legendary 15th-century French heroine, Joan of Arc (Sobieski). Joan is a peasant girl, born during France's Hundred Years War with England. She hears saints' voices telling her to help the Dauphin Charles (Harris) claim the French throne and drive out the English. Charles persuades Joan to proclaim herself the legendary Maid of Lorraine and raise an army to battle the Brits.
