Jesus (2000) Jesus

Jesus ★★½ 2000 Not completely reverential look at the life and teachings of Jesus (Sisto) from a historical, political, and religious viewpoint. Jesus is kind of a fun-loving 30-year-old who knows he has a destiny to fulfill. He and his parents (Bissett and Mueller-Stahl) struggle to deal with that as his followers seek the best course of resistance to Roman oppression, embodied by the political savvy Pontius Pilate (Oldman). The only truly disconcerting note is a slick Satan (Krabbe), who dresses like a contemporary wiseguy, and his temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. 174m/C VHS, DVD. Jeremy Sisto, Jacqueline Bisset, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Debra Messing, Gary Oldman, Jeroen Krabbe, David O'Hara, G.W. Bailey, Thomas Lockyer, Luca Zingaretti, Stefania Rocca, Claudio Amendola; Director: Roger Young; Writer: Suzette Couture; Writer: Raffaele Mertes; Cameo: Patrick Williams. TV
