The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977) The Island of Dr. Moreau

The Island of Dr. Moreau ★★½ 1977 (PG) This remake of the "Island of the Lost Souls" (1933) is a bit disappointing but worth watching for Lancaster's solid performance as the scientist who has isolated himself on a Pacific island in order to continue his chromosome research—he can transform animals into near-humans and humans into animals. Neat-looking critters. Adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel of the same title. 99m/C VHS, DVD, Wide. Burt Lancaster, Michael York, Nigel Davenport, Barbara Carrera, Richard Basehart, Nick Cravat; Director: Don Taylor; Writer: John Herman Shaner, Al Ramrus; Writer: Gerry Fisher.
