The Glimmer Man (1996) The Glimmer Man

The Glimmer Man ★½ 1996 (R) When a vicious LA serial killer starts dispatching whole families, NY detective Jack Cole (Seagal) is teamed with local homicide detective Jim Campbell (Wayans). Since, however, this is a Seagal movie, things have to be a little different. Cole, for example, is an ex-CIA operative who has been convinced by a Buddhist monk to stop killing people and start wearing goofy Nehru jackets and prayer beads. Campbell is a couch potato who cries over old movies (or perhaps he was watching the dailies from this one). After Cole's ex-wife is killed, he's implicated; and then somehow the Russian Mafia and the CIA are brought into the mix. Cole uses his unique brand of non-violence to slash, chop and impale his way to justice. Predictable when it's not being unbelievable, this could have been called "Hard to Watch." 92m/C VHS, DVD. Steven Seagal, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Michelle Johnson, Brian Cox, Bob Gunton, Stephen Tobolowsky, Johnny Strong, Ryan Cutrona, Peter Jason, Nikki Cox, Richard Gant, Alexa Vega; Director: John Gray; Writer: Kevin Brodbin; Writer: Rick Bota; Cameo: Trevor Rabin.
