Galaxy Quest (1999) Galaxy Quest

Galaxy Quest ★★½ 1999 (PG) An ingratiating goof on "Star Trek" and other cheesy TV shows that draw rabid fans and typecast actors. At a sci-fi convention, the actors from the campy '70s TV space series "Galaxy Quest" are mistaken for real space traveling heroes by naive aliens who need them to aid in an intergalactic war and whisk the troupe off to a galaxy far, far away (or thereabouts). Naturally, the "crew" is ill-prepared for their latest mission. Playful acting includes Allen's vain leader Peter Nesmith, blond bosomy babe Gwen DeMarco (Weaver), and cynical Brit, Alexander Dane (Rickman). 104m/C VHS, DVD, Wide. Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl (Chill) Mitchell, Robin Sachs, Enrico Colantoni, Missi Pyle; Director: Dean Parisot; Writer: David Howard, Robert Gordon; Writer: Jerzy Zielinski; Cameo: David Newman.
