The Fugitive (1993) The Fugitive

The Fugitive ★★★½ 1993 (PG-13) Exciting big-screen version of the '60s TV series with the same basic storyline: Dr. Richard Kimble's (Ford) wife (Ward) is murdered and he's convicted, so he escapes and goes on the lam to find the real killer, the mysterious one-armed man. Dogged marshal Sam Gerard (Jones) is determined to retrieve his man. Lots of mystery and action, particularly a spectacular train/bus crash sequence, keeps the tension high. Due to illness, Richard Jordan was replaced by Krabbe after production had begun. Alec Baldwin was originally slated to star as Kimble, but backed out and Ford was cast. Sound familiar? Ford also replaced Baldwin as Jack Ryan in "Patriot Games." 127m/C VHS, DVD. Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Jeroen Krabbe, Julianne Moore, Sela Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Andreas Katsulas, Daniel Roebuck; Director: Andrew Davis; Writer: David N. Twohy, Jeb Stuart; Writer: Michael Chapman; Cameo: James Newton Howard. Oscars '93: Support. Actor (Jones); Golden Globes '94: Support. Actor (Jones); L.A. Film Critics '93: Support. Actor (Jones); MTV Movie Awards '94: On-Screen Duo (Harrison Ford/Tommy Lee Jones), Action Seq.; Blockbuster '95: Action Actor, V. (Ford).
