Escape from L.A. (1996) Escape from L.A.

Escape from L.A. ★★½ John Carpenter's Escape from L.A 1996 (R) Well, Snake Plissken is back (Russell once again) and so's Carpenter, who did the original "Escape from New York" saga, and technology's advanced a lot in 15 years, so sit back and enjoy the action. In 2013, L.A.'s been turned into a gang-infested island, thanks to a 9.6 earthquake, where Snake is forced to find a doomsday weapon in just 10 hours. Seems he's been injected with a virus that will kill him unless he can complete his job and escape to get the antidote. Naturally, there's lots of bad guys who'll try to stop him. Russell not only reprises his old role but found Snake's original leathers, which still fit, and wore the outfit in some scenes of the sequel. 101m/C VHS, DVD. Kurt Russell, Georges Corraface, Stacy Keach, Peter Fonda, Steve Buscemi, Pam Grier, Valeria Golino, Cliff Robertson, Michelle Forbes, Bruce Campbell, A.J. (Allison Joy) Langer; Director: John Carpenter; Writer: Kurt Russell, John Carpenter, Debra Hill; Writer: Gary B. Kibbe; Cameo: John Carpenter, Shirley Walker.
