Earthquake (1974) Earthquake

Earthquake ★★ 1974 (PG) Less-than-mediocre drama centers on a major earthquake in Los Angeles and its effect on the lives of an engineer, his spoiled wife, his mistress, his father-in-law, and a suspended policeman. Filmed in much-hyped Sensurround—a technique intended to shake up the theatre a bit, but which will have no effect on your TV set. Good special effects, but not enough to compensate for lackluster script. 123m/C VHS, DVD. Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, George Kennedy, Lorne Greene, Genevieve Bujold, Richard Roundtree, Marjoe Gortner, Barry Sullivan, Victoria Principal, Lloyd Nolan, Walter Matthau, Scott Hylands; Director: Mark Robson; Writer: Mario Puzo; Writer: Philip Lathrop; Cameo: John Williams. Oscars '74: Sound, Visual FX.
