Dunston Checks In (1995) Dunston Checks In

Dunston Checks In ★★½ 1995 (PG) This just in: Hollywood thinks monkeys are funny. But, as far as "stupid people learn important life lessons from a monkey who wears clothes" movies go, this one's not bad. Robert Grant (Alexander) is the manager of a five-star hotel. His Leona Helmsley-esque boss (Dunaway) is convinced that aristocratic guest Lord Rutledge (Everett) is a travel guide critic who is there to bestow an elusive sixth star on the hotel. Actually he's a jewel thief, and Dunston the orangutan is his accomplice. When Dunston flees from his abusive owner, he's adopted by Grant's two children. Together, Dunston and the kids are left to straighten out the whole mess. 88m/C VHS. Jason Alexander, Faye Dunaway, Eric Lloyd, Rupert Everett, Graham Sack, Paul (Peewee Herman) Reubens, Glenn Shadix, Nathan Davis, Jennifer Bassey; Director: Ken Kwapis; Writer: Bruce Graham, John Hopkins; Writer: Peter Lyons Collister; Cameo: Miles Goodman.
