Double Jeopardy (1999) Double Jeopardy

Double Jeopardy ★★½ 1999 (R) This film really doesn't make much sense. But it certainly struck a nerve, as well as box-office gold, as an entertaining thriller, probably because it doesn't give you much time to catch your breathe or think about plot holes. Libby (Judd) does time for murdering hubby Nick (Greenwood) after she's set up by the sleaze. Once she's released, she decides since she can't be tried for the same crime twice (this is actually faulty logic), she might as well get rid of the lowlife for real. Wisecracking parole officer Travis Lehman (Jones) winds up getting deeply involved ferreting out the truth of the messy situation. 105m/C VHS, DVD, Wide. Ashley Judd, Tommy Lee Jones, Bruce Greenwood, Annabeth Gish, Roma Maffia, Jay Brazeau, Gillian Barber, Davenia McFadden, Spencer (Treat) Clark; Director: Bruce Beresford; Writer: David Weisberg, Douglas S. Cook; Writer: Peter James; Cameo: Normand Corbeil.
