Deep Blue Sea (1999) Deep Blue Sea

Deep Blue Sea ★½ 1999 (R) It's no longer safe to go back in the water. Marine biologist Susan McAlester (Burrows) is obsessed with finding a cure for Alzheimer's and has genetically enhanced the brains of a group of test sharks at a floating research facility off the Baja coast. Oh, and she didn't bother to tell anyone else in her group about these smarter-than-the-average sharks. But they soon learn, when the research facility suffers several accidents, begins to flood, and the sharks get loose—and looking for snacks. It's not a bomb but it's also nothing that you haven't seen before. And the fake sharks look, well, fake (and hokey). 105m/C VHS, DVD, Wide. Saffron Burrows, Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Jane, L.L. Cool J., Jacqueline McKenzie, Michael Rapaport, Stellan Skarsgard, Aida Turturro; Director: Renny Harlin; Writer: Duncan Kennedy, Donna Powers, Wayne Powers; Writer: Stephen Windon; Cameo: Trevor Rabin.
