Some of the themes dealt with in her previous books continue in Lestat. Always interested in the outcast, she has a major concern with alienation and how those alienated ones act. Vampires are alienated from everyone because, according to her, for them to love mortals is to court death or madness, and to love other vampires is to court death since there can be little life-sustaining exchange between them. She shows Lestat as one who wishes to be a part of the mortal life and bring other vampires out of the shadows into the mortal world, showing who and what they are and thus allowing...
