Valparaiso University offers both health services and personal counseling for students. The health services are run by nurses, and usually at least one day a week (sometimes more during flu season), a doctor will come in. The nurses can even write prescriptions for antibiotics, cold/flu treatments, basically anything a student may need when they become sick at school. Office hours are weekdays only, and students will usually schedule appointments, although walk-ins are sometimes possible (but may take much longer). Any serious or emergency ailments are referred to Porter County Hospital, which is located just down the road on Laporte Avenue.

Counseling services are also available to students, in the form of the Counseling Services. Students can make an appointment and speak to doctors and psychologists, and sometimes other students to help solve any problems they may have. It has the ability to help students who are suffering stress from schoolwork, relationships, homesickness, etc. It also has counseling for students with drug problems, alcohol problems, and classes for sexual awareness.
