Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
βThe UW has a lot to offer. However, due to its size, it can frustrate and intimidate people into staying at home most of the time. My advice is to get out there and see what the school has to offer. If you do that, your experience can be very good. If not, UW can seem impersonal and sometimes downright unfriendly. I think people are just paranoid of other human beings around UW. Never, but never, do strangers exchange greetings or even make eye contact. Sad but true, this is the effect of a huge school and a huge city. Take time and make the effort to get to know people and associate with clubs, sports, activities, and parties. It will greatly enhance your experience.β
βThe University of Washington was my last choice. I applied to six schools: University of San Diego, Loyola Marymount, Gonzaga, University of Portland, and Seattle University. With that said, I cannot imagine myself anywhere else right now: it is the best experience I'm having. I live in a sorority, and that helps make the student population smaller for me. You will enjoy any college, but it is hard to find a Husky who doesn't love their school. It is a difficult decision, but I know that I made the right one. Good luck.β
