Our recreational sports programs vary from aquatics, informal athletics, and intramurals too sports clubs and fitness programs. The university encourages participation in these events by offering numerous classes in these programs for credit towards your bachelors degree.
The University's aquatics facility offers two 50 meter lap pools, swimming classes, diving classes, kayak clinics, scuba classes, and competitive swimming. The Tennessee Recreational Center for Students (TRECS) has 4 basketball courts and a 1/7 mile indoor running track. According to the UT website and my personal observation "The main fitness area includes over 80 pieces of cardiovascular and over 100 strength training stations....seventeen treadmills, eighteen elliptical machines along with an in-house entertainment system that allows participants to watch and listen to their favorite TV stations or XM radio as you workout." The TREC also has snack areas, lounge areas and a smoothie king that you can use your meal credits at.The Health and Physical Education Building houses many health and physical education themed classes. Many of the martial arts programs are houses within Hyper. Last but not least we have the bubble which is a 24,000 square ft recreational and instructional space that houses basketball courts and fitness equipment.
