All single enrolled freshman who are not commuting to campus from their parents or guardians house must live in a residence hall on campus. This is a strictly enforced policy at the University and for good reasons.

It will help you experience campus better and you will feel bonded to the University on more than just a scholastic level. Also, many of the dorms have cafeterias and eating establishments as well as school supply stores located directly in or around the residence halls. It is very convenient to have these resources located directly where you live and study.

When you enroll in the University you will receive a residence status that will determine whether or not you need to enroll in a residence hall. You will have three choices, your top preference being the first you choose. All of the dorms are excellent choices and offer everything you could want or need in campus living. It will truly be a home away from home. You will be notified of your roommate before school starts so you can communicate before moving in. This helps a great deal in getting to know your roommate.

Inside the dorms there are cable, phone and computer connections. The residence halls are staffed on a 24 hour basis to help with everything that you need and there will also be staff on your floor available at all times. With this situation you can feel safe and secure inside your residence hall, and that is not available in the Fort Sanders area which is where most people live off campus.
