USF Slang
Know the slang, know the school. The following is a list of things you really need to know before coming to USF. The more of these words you know, the better off you'll be.
- Dead Hour
12:00–1:00; lunchtime, when no classes are held.
- The gym
Koret Health and Recreation Center, not Memorial Gym.
- Harney 240
(or 240) Location of the Arts and Sciences Dean's office.
- ITS
Information Technology Services; they are the people to go to with computer and network problems or questions.
- On the Hill
On Lone Mountain.
- Parina
Popular lounge on the third floor of the UC; also a computer lab.
- RA
Resident Advisor, each residence hall has at least one on each floor.
- Resident Minister
Each residence hall has at least one or two in each building; they serve as inspirational leaders and support students with whatever problems they might have.
- SI
Usually refers to Saint Ignatius church, but can also mean the Saint Ignatius Institute.
- The UC
The University Center, located at the heart of main campus.
- World Fare
Old name for the Market cafeteria.
