The University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) is one of the leading healthcare systems in the country.  Known for its extensive research facilities and in-hospital teaching programs, the University of Michigan hospital (the U) is an excellent facility that both students, faculty and the public can have access to.

Based on students' HMO/PPO (health insurance) benefits, co-pays upon admission to UMHS can vary.  This rule applies to both the hospital as well as the on-campus health service (UHS: located off of North U St., across the street from the School of Dentistry). Typically, costs through UHS are reduced for students as this facility is catered to students and faculty.  Don't forget to bring your UofM card in with you (containing your 8 digit UofM ID number).

Counceling services are also offered to students and faculty.  CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services: located on the 3rd floor of the Michigan Union) is a facility on campus with accredited psychologists and staff able to assist students who are frequently troubled with factors (be it stress, personal or school related).

Overall, the University of Michigan houses several resources that students and faculty can benefit from when involving health/counceling services.  Below are two links, one that will direct you to the UofM Medical System page and the other containing a list of counceling services offered on campus (including CAPS).
