Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
“Well, you will be just a number here. That was hard for me to adjust to. Ann Arbor is very expensive, especially for out-of-state tuition. It's a nice town and a great atmosphere. However, it can be competitive. Sometimes I ponder what it would have been like if I went to a small, private school. Here, it almost seems like professors are more interested in their research then anything else. But then again, there are the good ones who will stay after office hours and help you out whenever needed. Classes are pretty big—lectures will have tons of people, but labs and discussions are smaller. But if it's a lecture, does it really matter how big the classes are? I'm not a big fan of the grading system, but that also depends on which school you go into.”
“I've really appreciated being an undergrad at Michigan. The fact that it's ranked in the top 10 in almost every academic field means that you can pursue whatever you're interested in at a high level. Trust the source of information. It's also just a great atmosphere for undergrad, in general. There are lots of things to do that help you meet friends and make the huge University seem more like a small community.”
