Tips to Succeed at UMaine
Go to your classes. Even in a section of 200, they know when you're missing.
Take classes with professors who are genuinely concerned about your learning.
Read ahead and keep on top of assignments. It's not easy when you fall behind.
Meet with your professors to discuss your progress. They like familiar faces.
Pick a major you enjoy, or college will be hell. Don't go into a profession you hate because the rest of your life will be hell, too.
Understand what you are doing in class, or begin asking the right questions.
Take advantage of free tutoring, and always stay in an extended class for exam review time. The professors are handing you answers to topics on exams.
Discuss bad grades with your professor or teaching assistant. Seek feedback on your work to succeed in class.
Be confident in your knowledge of your future profession. Do not fear giving a wrong answer.
If you are totally lost in the first week of class, get out, or get a tutor.
