Posted by awilliams08 on Friday September 19, 2008 at 6:27 AMNot all freshman live on campus but most of them do. It's good to apply for housing early; that way you are guaranteed housing, particularly if you're an out-of-state student. Roommates are just randomly assigned so unless you meet someone and request to room together, you just get paired up.

Posted by bgl5704 on Monday September 22, 2008 at 9:48 PMNo, not all freshmen live on campus. Roommates are not always matched up well. There is a sheet where you put your personalities and habits on. If you lie on the sheet then you will get someone that you do not like. But if you have friends that you want to room with they can organize that also if you go earlier.

Posted by akipocky on Monday September 29, 2008 at 8:10 AMHi! No, not all freshman live on campus. I'm an example of it. However, I'd say more than 50% of freshman lived on campus their first year. Like bgl5704 said, if you need roommates, you will be matched up based on a brief personality test that you filled out on paper. People are different and you cannot be accurate based on a brief test, so there are always the possibility of bad matches but if you're easy going and develop good communication habits with your roommates most likely you will get along.
It is also recommended that you attend the "Gator to Gator Building Roommate Communications Program" with your roommate(s). The program will help you better communicate with each other to avoid conflicts. However, if you're still having problems, there are also Residence Directors and Residence Life Coordinators you can always speak to to resolve the conflicts.

Posted by rlendensky on Wednesday December 3, 2008 at 8:19 PMI think it's safe to say that a majority of freshman choose to live on campus; however, that doesn't say much about living off campus. Living on campus truly is great for meeting people, but if you are uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom or sharing roomspace with someone in such close quarters, don't be disenchanted with the idea of living off campus. It's a great alternative and may be the one for you. If you are considering living off campus, consider leasing through Trimark Properties, their prices are reasonable and they are relatively social environments as well.
