What is life like on campus? Does a lot of social activity take place on campus? Are there a lot of campus activities? How is campus dining? Posted by enotes on Aug 28, 2008. |

Hello! The UF campus is full of various fun activities and definitely very social. There are always student organization activities going on as well as other activities that UF brings. For example, concerts from young artists, comedy shows, student competitions, etc. The campus dining is not as fancy as some of the other campuses I have seen, however it is a decent one. There are two or three dining buffets on campus, as well as restaurants in the student Union and other areas like Chili's, Moes, Wendy's, Starbucks, etc. If you're hungry on campus, don't worry about finding food :) Posted by akipocky on Sep 20, 2008. |

Life on campus is great for meeting people. You will have to meet someone and start being friends with if you live on campus. That's just how it works because you basically have tons of next door neighbors. Social Activity takes place everywhere on campus. From house parties to dorm parties there should be one almost every night. And if you find your way around you might be able to sneak in and get some free booze or munchies. Our school has a greek system and the fraternities and sororities always have something going on. Especially in the Fall its RUSH week and all of the greeks are recruiting. Whether its a cook out or a dance off or even a tailgate. If you are not part of the greek system then you can still get your social mojo going by hitting the clubs and bars in downtown gainesville there is even a karaoke place to show off your vocals with your friends. The only good thing about campus dining is not the food. If you go to the buffets the only good thing is that its a buffet! You can eat until you are about to burst. And maybe even sneak some food out for later... However, you will not be disspointed by the food rendered by the chain stores such as Starbucks, Chickfila, and Moe's but you will be traumatized by the price at some of these joints. UF is probably one of the most social of campuses. Organizations like the Student Alumni Association (or SAA) host various different events for all different kinds of people. Student Government also hosts events such as free movies and other ways to meet fellow students. University of Florida's Greek system also adds to the social scene. Sorority fall rush takes place in late August while Fraternity Rush takes places in early September. This is another great way to meet not only other freshman, but also upperclassmen who have the same interests as yourself. The dorms are also a great social scene. Dorms frequently host different events within the building in order to meet people living in the same building as you. Posted by rlendensky on Dec 5, 2008. |
