The Story:
Calchas, a Trojan prophet who divined that Troy was doomed to defeat, fled to the Greeks, leaving behind his beautiful daughter, Criseyde, a young widow. One day in April, the citizens of Troy were observing the rites of the spring festival. Among those in the temple was Troilus, a younger son of King Priam of Troy. Troilus, who had always been scornful of the Trojan swains and their lovesickness, saw Criseyde and fell deeply in love with her at first sight.
