WHAT IS ITS MISSION?
The National Congress of Parents and Teachersnown popularly as the National Parents and Teachers Association, or PTAas started more than 100 years ago to relieve the suffering and improve the lives of children. As part of that mission, the group has a strong (although by no means exclusive) focus on public schools. The PTA calls itself "the largest volunteer child advocacy group in the United States. An organization of parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities, the PTA is a leader in reminding our nation of its obligations to children."
