WHAT IS ITS MISSION?
The Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is "a top-level advisory group concerned with all aspects of environmental qualityildlife preservation, parklands, land use, population growth, as well as pollution." The CEQ works to ensure that federal agencies give proper consideration to the effects their actions will have on the environment and that they obey the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. The CEQ and the Environmental Protection Agency are to "work in close harmony, reinforcing each other [to] encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between man and his environment."
