WHAT IS ITS MISSION?
The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) is the largest supplier and manager of water in the 17 western states. Its mission is to develop, protect, and conserve water, and related resources in an environmentally and economically sound manner. Reclamation projects are designed to protect local economies and preserve natural resources and ecosystems through the effective use of water resources.
HOW IS IT STRUCTURED?
The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) is a division of the Department of the Interior (DOI) that works closely with other DOI divisions and related federal agencies. BOR is administered by a commissioner who is nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate.
